We aim to be a progressive, happy and successful school. We deliver a broad curriculum to a high standard and ensure that all our children have the best possible opportunities to realise their full potential and that pupils are well prepared for their move to secondary education.

To achieve success we harness the commitment of a dedicated team of teachers to serve all the children we educate. For gifted children and pupils with special educational needs we use a range of strategies that make full use of all available classroom and school resources, alongside specialised, supportive teaching. With the support of devoted parents this team has high expectations of all children, whilst also being sensitive towards, and recognising, their different needs and abilities. The Viking operates a policy of equal opportunities for all.

Excellent pastoral care is at the forefront of a Viking education and the exceptional relationships fostered between pupils and teaching staff ensure each child's spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding. Discipline is firm but friendly and pupils are taught at an early age to be respectful of others, demonstrate positive behaviours and to recognise the difference between right and wrong.

We promote good communication between home, school and any secondary schools concerned and are always open and approachable.
